Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. company, has announced the sale of a 21-foot TSUNAMI unmanned surface vessel (USV) to the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific. The USV will support testing of the Maritime Digital Experimentation Federation (MDEF), an AUKUS initiative focused on distributing interoperability standards for uncrewed vehicles. The order includes the TSUNAMI craft along with engineering and training support.
The TSUNAMI family of autonomous maritime surface vessels is designed to meet U.S. Navy and allied requirements for versatile, multi-mission uncrewed assets that team effectively across the fleet. Leveraging Brunswick Corporation’s high-performance vessels, Textron Systems integrated its trusted CUSV vessel-based autonomy control system. TSUNAMI offers several variants to address diverse mission needs, including size, speed, and range. The solution uses mature commercial technologies to deliver increased capacity and immediate scalability.

The sale follows a recent order of a 24-foot TSUNAMI vessel to the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Dahlgren Division. The TSUNAMI family pairs Textron Systems’ 40+ years of multi-domain autonomous vehicle experience with the manufacturing and design capabilities of the U.S. commercial shipbuilding industry.
